Thank you for taking your first steps in becoming a member of the South Bay Snipers Family!
We have a staff with the common goal of creating basketball experiences that celebrate athleticism, fair play, good sportsmanship, and community involvement. Regarding South Bay Snipers, our objective and purpose is to develop, to promote and regulate amateur athletics under the rules of the National Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
Sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play are the values that the South Bay Snipers embraces. These are also the values that coaches, athletes, and parents must foster through positive and responsible behavior. The program provides young athletes the opportunity to develop decision-making skills, discipline, sportsmanship and team work as well as promote self-esteem and better health in a fun and competitive environment.
The organization has developed a set of guidelines, which we ask that you and your athlete acknowledge and pledge to uphold during your time with us this season.

I, , am accepting my roster spot with the South Bay Sniper basketball club this upcoming Spring/Summer Season from February 2025 to end of July 2025. In exchange for the privilege of being on the team, I promise to do the following:
1. ACADEMICS WILL BE FIRST: Your grades and classwork come before basketball. I commit to completing my homework and assignments prior to any basketball-related events. I will not wait until the day before to do my homework or studying, and I understand that school will rarely interfere with my basketball commitments.
2. ATTENDANCE: I pledge to be on time for all practices, properly dressed with basketball shorts, shoes, and no jewelry. I acknowledge that circumstances may arise when I must miss a practice due to illness or other valid reasons. In such cases, I will inform my coach in advance when possible. I understand that unexcused absences may result in extra conditioning, loss of playing time, or dismissal from the team if they become a constant problem.
3. ATTITUDE: I am committed to fostering a team of players that demand more of themselves. I will be coachable, hustle, and display mental toughness. I understand the importance of working harder than any other team in the Bay Area, developing good habits in practice, and respecting teammates, referees, opponents, and coaches. I will not engage in behavior that puts others down, and I will come to the coaches first if I have a problem related to the team.
4. ADJUSTMENTS AND SACRIFICES: I acknowledge that adjustments and sacrifices are necessary for team and individual success. I am committed to making extraordinary efforts, along with my family and the coaches, to create a positive experience that could impact our lives forever.
5. GAME DAY APPEARANCE: I will wear all team gear to all events and ensure I bring both home and away jerseys to each game.
6. We will use TeamSnap to communicate all basketball related events. You will have access to the full practice and tournament schedule within the app, as well as be able to communicate with coaches and other fellow teammates and their families. Within TeamSnap, you are able to add other family members who will need access to schedules, as well as update your availability or any missed events for the season. Every player must indicate their availability for every practice and game. It is important for all team members and their families to be aware of each other's availability.
7. Each player will be responsible for finding their way to/from practices and games, however we foster a family-like environment, so please reach out to fellow teammates or in the TeamSnap group chat if you will need rides.
a. Please do your best to update your availability.
b. In case of any emergencies, we are understanding of these circumstances, but please try to do your best at communicating last minute absences. Remember, your teammates are all counting on one another.
i. 3 consecutive absences that are not communicated to the SBS staff, will result in immediate termination of contract and you will no longer be able to play for the remainder of the season.

As a parent of the above named player, I promise to do the following:

1. Influence my child to abide by the contract they have signed.
2. If your child is having any issues, such as poor academics or bad attitude, etc. Please contact the coaches as soon as possible. Hopefully we can assist you. If in the preseason you foresee these problems as possible reasons to pull him/her off the team, you may consider denying them the opportunity to play in the upcoming season. Mid-season removal is detrimental to our team concept.
3. Be an example of good sportsmanship at games by making only positive comments about the players, keeping criticism of the officiating to a minimum of volume and frequency, and treating fans of our opponents with respect.
4. Be patient with coaches who are not giving your child the playing time you feel he deserves.
5. Leave coaching to the Coaches.
6. Inform other family members of these rules (Relatives, friends, etc.)
7. If an issue presents itself, set up a meeting with the current coach, athlete, and you the parent so we can resolve things.
We, the coaches, promise to do the following:
1. Treat each player as if we would want our child to be treated.
2. Attempt to play each player in every game. SBS teams are competitive teams. In a competitive team, play time is neither guaranteed nor equal, it is earned through commitment, position, teamwork, work ethic, dedication, understanding the game and positive attitude.
3. Teach your child the skills to become the best person and player they can be.
4. Do whatever we can to help them reach their next level goals.
